BUILT WITH INTENTION.
Some people work on cars because they have to. We do it because we can't stop thinking about what the car could be — not in a fantasy way, but in a systematic, iterative, won't-leave-it-alone way. That's the difference.

Crenshaw Engineering is a Florida-based build operation rooted in BMW platform development. We focus on N20 and F30-generation BMWs — platforms we've spent years understanding at a structural level, not just a bolt-on level. What we do covers the full spectrum: engine rebuilds, suspension setup, track preparation, custom fabrication, and ECU calibration. We don't hand cars off to other shops when things get difficult. We figure it out.
The custom parts side of the operation exists because off-the-shelf usually means designed for the average case. Our builds aren't average cases.
Engineering-first means we ask why before we ask what. Why is the car behaving this way? Why did BMW make this decision at the factory? Why does a solution work in one context and fail in another? That line of questioning shapes everything — from how we approach a calibration to how we fabricate a bracket.
We're not trying to extract maximum numbers from a dyno run. We're trying to build cars that perform consistently, feel intentional behind the wheel, and hold up under real use — including track days where reliability matters more than peak output. A car that makes big power and breaks on lap three is a failed build.
Mistakes are part of the process. We document them, understand them, and correct them. The first version is rarely the right version, and pretending otherwise is how problems get buried instead of solved.
The name comes from Crenshaw — the district in Los Angeles where the roots are. That mentality travels. It's about doing things properly because shortcuts have a way of surfacing at the worst possible time. It's about respect for the craft, and earning what you build.
The connection to BMW goes back further than this shop. It's generational — something passed down, not something picked up as a trend. That history informs how seriously we take the platform and how carefully we approach modifying it. These aren't just project cars. They're machines worth understanding.
We're based in Florida now — building in the heat, tuning on roads that aren't ideal, and preparing cars for tracks that expose every mistake made in the garage. That pressure keeps the work honest.
There's a balance we're always working toward: craftsmanship, performance, and usability in the same car. A track-prepped BMW that's also composed on a long highway drive. A custom tune that makes power without sacrificing the way the engine responds at partial throttle. A fabricated part that fits like it belonged there from the factory.
That balance is harder to achieve than just optimizing for one thing. It's also more satisfying. The goal has never been the loudest build in the paddock. It's the most deliberate one.
We build because we're genuinely curious about how these systems work and how far they can be developed with the right approach. The driving is the reward for getting it right.
We're not finished. The builds evolve, the tools improve, and the understanding deepens with every iteration. If you want to follow the process — not just the results — you're in the right place.
